Sustainability

SODRU realizes the high level of its responsibility towards society and future generations. It has maximised its efforts to reduce its negative environmental impact and promote social development in all regions of activity. SODRU is committed to act in a socially fair and environmentally responsible manner.

The SODRU sustainability policy can be found here:

Knowledge of the origins of raw materials and logistic chains is essential in ensuring responsible practice in both production and the supply chain   It is necessary to ensure traceability in all stages of collection, storage, trade and transport.

To realise these objectives SODRU developed the Sodru Sustainable Soy program which fully adheres to the responsible Soy-sourcing guidelines laid down by FEFAC.

The SODRU sustainability program can be found here:

The adoption of certification systems are part of our journey focused on the sustainable and responsible sourcing of raw materials:

RTRS

The principal objective of RTRS is to “promote the growth and the use of responsible soy through cooperation with the supply chain and open dialogue between its stakeholders

ProTerra / ProTerra Europa

Social responsibility and ecological sustainability certification system applied to agricultural and food products production.

Europe Soya

Certification system that is focused on traceability and GMO-free Europe Soy product identity preservation.

Besides the sustainability certifications above Sodru takes care that suppliers of beans from Brazil are signatories of the Soy Moratorium. The Soy Moratorium is a commitment to not to trade or finance beans coming from deforested areas of the Amazon Biome deforested after July 22nd, 2008. Additionally,  suppliers should also be signatories of the Green Protocol of Grains from Pará State which is a similar commitment to the Soy Moratorium. Suppliers undergo a yearly external audit that ensures the commitment is being followed.

Production sites supplying goods to SODRU should be aware of their impact on their staff, society, and the environment and adhere to the best practices and international standards of health and safety management as well as ecological management. Environmental protection and health and safety are key priorities and production sites are expected to have policies and systems in place that address the responsible use of natural resources.
